It’s no exaggeration to call the Calumet Theatre the gem Keweenaw. With money reaped from the copper boom, the city began construction of the theatre in 1898. Two years later, the brick and sandstone building opened with a touring broadway show. Over a hundred years later, the theater continues to host plays, dance shows, movies and touring acts from around the country. To step inside the theater is to step back in time.
